Sr. Payroll and Compensation Specialist
The Payroll and Compensation Specialist is a key member of the HR team, working closely with the Director of HR Operations, SVP of HR, and finance team. The Specialist is the payroll owner responsible for collaboratively and skillfully processing semi-monthly multi-state payroll. You will ensure that salaries, wages, bonuses, and incentives are processed accurately and in compliance with company policies, legal regulations, and deadlines. You have experience solving complicated payroll issues, and resolving issues with state agencies, tax agencies, and other authority stakeholders. You’re able to gain confidence from employees at all levels within the organization. You will be the payroll and compensation expert at Raptive.

The Specialist must be process-minded, analytically inclined, and excellent with numbers, with an advanced knowledge of Excel. This is a subject matter expert individual contributor role that can be remote in the U.S., although NYC-based is strongly preferred.
What you’ll be doing:
- Lead the processing of semi-monthly multi-state payroll, ensuring compliance with all relevant laws and regulations. Maintain accurate payroll records and resolve discrepancies.
- Identify inefficiencies and errors in payroll data and documents. Recommend and implement streamlined procedures to enhance payroll processes.
- Manage relevant payroll provider and software vendor relationships
- Lead compensation-related activities, such as salary adjustments, bonus payments, and long-term incentive programs.
- Work with the SVP, HR to maintain compensation ranges and structure using the Radford Aon platform
- Work closely with the Finance department to reconcile compensation-related accounts
- Assist with 401(k) ERISA compliance, ensuring all regulatory requirements are met.
- Participate in audits and provide necessary documentation and explanations for compensation-related items.
- Collaborate with auditors, accountants, and other finance professionals to ensure integrity and accuracy in financial reporting.
- Assist with the implementation and maintenance of payroll systems.
- Serve as the main point of contact for HR analytics and reporting, providing insights to drive data-informed decisions.
The skills and experience you bring to the job:
- 5+ years of dedicated payroll experience showing increased responsibility
- Bachelor’s degree in business, accounting, or a related field.
- Strong knowledge of payroll regulations, tax laws, and compensation best practices.
- Strong analytical and critical thinking abilities, detail-oriented, and able to identify and solve issues efficiently.
- Experience with compensation administration and working market data such as Radford Aon.
- Excellent communication skills, capable of conveying complex information clearly and effectively.
- Highly organized with impeccable attention to detail. Strong time management skills, able to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and good judgment.
- Excellent customer service skills, with a focus on providing a positive experience for all stakeholders.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, with the ability to create and analyze complex spreadsheets.

The base salary range for this position is $100,000-$120,000. The range provided is Raptive’s reasonable estimate of the annualized base compensation for this role. The actual amount may be higher or lower, based on non-discriminatory factors such as experience, geographic location, knowledge, skills and abilities. This role is eligible for additional incentive compensation that isn’t included in the posted range.
